Professor Austin is the co-PI on this project. He is a member of the Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics department and is a protein biochemist by training. His work has primarily been to unravel the unique protein of this organism. Laboratory experiments coupled with bioinformatic tools help him decipher the molecules of P. heparinus.
Dr. David Essig is Professor of Biology at Geneva College. He teaches the Foundations of Biology, Human Physiology, Neuroscience and Genomics courses in the Biology Department. His research includes mouse behavioral genetics and bacterial genomics. Dr. Essig strives to connect his research into the classroom environment to facilitate inquiry based learning.
