Crossroads is responsible for correspondence between the Geneva community and the Fulbright Scholar Program. Crossroads will facilitate the application process of a Geneva faculty or staff member, should he/she desire to teach or research abroad via Fulbright. Crossroads also provides services to scholars abroad who, through Fulbright, desire to come to Geneva College for a semester or academic year.
The purpose of the Fulbright Scholar Program is to further positive relations between the United States and other countries through the exchange of scholars. The Fulbright Scholar program provides grants to nominated scholars for work abroad in the nominee’s field of expertise. As a U.S. scholar abroad, one will conduct research, participate in seminars, and lecture at institutions within the host country.
The Fulbright Scholar Program offers hundreds of grants for teaching and research. The programs extend to over 125 countries, and the Scholar Program now offers multi-country grants for trans-regional teaching and research. A candidate for the Scholar Program will be awarded a grant based upon a Project Statement written by the candidate. The Project Statement informs peer reviewers of one’s background, experience, teaching and research interests, and intentions for the program.
The Fulbright Scholar program is available to college and university scholars and professionals with more than five years of experience in a variety of fields. The applicant ought to have evidence of professional excellence in a variety of forms, including publications, honors, compositions, fellowships, etc. Preference is given to professionals who have not spent extensive time in the country of application.
