William Perry - Political Science

William Perry III is a freshman Political Science major with a focus in Pre-Law. He was raised in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania with his parents and sister. He graduated from Susquehanna Community High School. While searching for the perfect college for himself, William was accepted into over 18 different colleges. However, despite all the options, William was certain that Geneva would be where he obtains his undergraduate degree. The thought-provoking curriculum, friendly community, and having a personal connection with professors are just some of the reasons William found himself at Geneva.

William was beyond ready to dive into the community and curriculum at Geneva. In his first semester, he has made quick work of creating connections with fellow students, professors, and staff members. These connections have allowed him to grow as a student and a person, opening his eyes to many issues involved in his specific major. The ability to integrate faith into classes has proved to be a very important factor to William. “One of the main concerns of many people I have spoken with when discussing lawyers is honesty. The morals and values taught at Geneva will eliminate that concern for my future clients,” said William. So far, his favorite class has been POL151, the first available Political Science class for freshmen. This course gave William a better insight to American Government.

William discovered Geneva through the football program when Coach Tom Contenta reached out to him about playing. William has played football since the age of six and had been in contact with multiple college coaches, but Geneva’s coaching staff made him feel at home. “The coaching staff and team truly create more than a football program, it becomes a family. Those guys will always have your back and you will always do the same for them.”

William is an intern at the Marketing services and Public Relations office at Geneva. In his experiences here, William has taken the opportunity to improve upon his writing skills, communication in the workplace, and real-life work in an office environment. “This is my first job truly working in an office environment and I believe it will truly help me in my future career as a lawyer,” William said.

Despite having little religious background, William was able to find his love for Christ at Geneva. William has taken the opportunity at Geneva to trust Him. William believes he did not simply choose Geneva, but it was his calling to come here. “Though I was not a strong Christian growing up, I was able to grow as a man at Geneva. I learned to live in His image and trust that God truly has a plan for everyone.” William plans to follow his passion in law, and become a Criminal Defense Attorney where he can give a voice to those who feel voiceless in the Criminal Justice System.
