Spring Semester 2025 Orientation

Orientation for the 2025 spring semester, will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 through Saturday, January 11, 2025We are excited to have you join the Geneva community!   

Orientation will be held in person and is mandatory for all incoming students (First-year & Transfer). Various proficiency and placement exams will be offered on Thursday and Friday, January 9-10 for any student who needs or wishes to take them.  

Spring Orientation

We are incredibly excited that you have made the decision to join the Geneva community!

We are anticipating your arrival on campus and are ready to walk with you as you start your journey at Geneva College.

Spring Semester Orientation will be on Thursday-Saturday, January 9-11, 2025. 

By attending Orientation, you will get class credit, learn about the support services available to help you succeed academically, adjust to collegiate life, and meet new friends and peers. During Orientation, you will meet staff, faculty, and new friends who are excited about your success and presence at Geneva College.

As you step forward, know that we as staff and faculty are here to walk with you through your new and exciting journey and experience. We are all looking forward to meeting and supporting you through your time in college.

Spring Semester Orientation 2025 Schedule

Orientation is integral to your success as a Geneva student.  It is expected that all students who are new to Geneva College attend the entirety of Orientation. If you have questions about Orientation, please email cse@geneva.edu.  

Thursday, January 9, 2025

1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.: Resident Student Check-in and Move-in // Benedum Room

Come to the Benedum Room inside Alexander Hall to check in before heading to your residence hall to move-in.      

2:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.: Commuter Check-In // Benedum Room

Commuters will need to check-in to make sure they are ready to begin at Geneva College.  Come to the Benedum Room inside Alexander Hall.

2:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.: Reading Proficiency Test // OM 24

Any deposited student that does not have a standardized test score (SAT, ACT, or CLT) for Reading and Writing needs to take the proficiency exam for Reading and Writing.  Many incoming students have taken the exam already, but this will be the last time it is offered before the start of the semester.   

3:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.: Commuter student meeting // Skye Lounge

Come hear about commuter specific information including parking permits, lockers, and a tour of the commuter lounge.

4:00 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.: Light Refreshments // Benedum Room

4:15 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.: Welcome Session  // Benedum Room

Welcome to Geneva!  We are so glad you are part of our community.  We want to start you off with an official Geneva welcome, and set you up well for the start of your Geneva College journey.  

4:45 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.: Pittsburgh Excursion

Join us for a night out for dinner and exploring Pittsurgh.

9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.: Math Proficiency & Placement Exam // S&E 212

The Math Proficiency exam is for students who have not established math proficiency with a SAT, ACT, or CLT score, or a College Algebra class. The Placement Exam is primarily for Math, Science, and Engineering Majors and will place students into MAT 120 and MAT 161. 

10:00 a.m. - 11:20 a.m.:  Orientation Sessions // Benedum Room

11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.: Academic Departmental Connection // Brig

12:15 p.m. - 1:15 p.m.: Lunch with L&T mentors // Alexander Dining Hall

1:30 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.: Orientation Session // McKee Classroom (#15)

2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.: Campus Swag Hunt // Various Locations

Explore campus and find different offices to collect Geneva swag!

3:15 p.m.: - 4:00 p.m.: Orientation Session // Skye Lounge

4:10 p.m.: - 5:00 p.m.: L&T Class #1 // L&T Classroom

Attend your first college class at Geneva. You will receive class credit for your attendance.

5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.: Dinner // Alexander Dining Hall

6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.: A night out off camps

This is your second L&T class. You will be learning about how to navigate online Geneva systems (eLearning, MyGeneva, e-mail) Please bring a laptop to this session.

3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.: Discover Beaver Falls // Benedum Room

Explore the community you will call home while at Geneva College. 

5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.: Dinner // Alexander Dining Hall

7:30 p.m.: Off Campus Activity // Meet in Alumni Parking Lot
