Geneva Tops Alfred University 1-0; Reaches 7th Straight Win

Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva topped Alfred University Wednesday evening in a non-conference match. The 1-0 decision raises Geneva’s overall record to 9-3-1, also handing Geneva a seven-game winning streak.

“Once again a complete 90 minute effort from the boys in all three areas,” said head coach Gary Dunda, “the back, in the middle field and up top, everyone really played well together and that is key for us.”

Geneva controlled the first half and outshot Alfred 5-2 but the game remained scoreless until the second half.

Junior defender Gib McCracken (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver County Christian School) converted a penalty kick into Geneva’s game winning goal in the 72^nd minute of the game.

“Alfred University is a very good team, a well-coached team,” said Dunda, “to earn a victory tonight is fantastic for us. Now we are ready for Waynesburg on Saturday.”

Saturday, October 15 Geneva will host the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets, returning to conference play starting at 2:30 p.m.
