Beaver Falls, PA – Carnegie Mellon University handed the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes a 29-10 loss at home Saturday night (Oct. 15). The conference loss lowers Geneva’s overall record to 2-4, 1-3 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).
Geneva’s frustrated offense was held to eight first downs while committing four fumbles.
The Golden Tornadoes were the first to score off Neil Harrison’s (Canonsburg, PA/Peters Twp.) 28-yard field goal at 6:59 in the first quarter.
Kelosky added six more points with a two-yard run at 3:39 in the third quarter to keep Geneva in reach of the Tartans, 17-10.
Carnegie Mellon’s offense exploded in the fourth, recording 10 points in 20 seconds (27-10). The Golden Tornadoes surrendered a team safety for the final 29-10 decision.
Geneva’s defense went to work putting its nose to the grindstone. Jimmy Quinlan (Brookfield, OH/Brookfield) posted a personal and team season-high 17 tackles supported by Joe Shively (Monaca, PA/Central Valley) with 11 and Tim Martin (Moon Township, PA/Moon) with 10.
Next week, the Golden Tornadoes travel to Case Western Reserve for a 6 p.m. start against the Spartans.
