Grove City, PA – The Geneva College men’s tennis team traveled to Grove City College on Saturday, April 16 to face off against the current President’s Athletic Conference Champions (PAC). Geneva fell 9-0 to a still dominant tennis program. Grove City men’s tennis has won the PAC championship for the last 25 consecutive years. Geneva’s loss moves them to 2-8 overall, 2-6 in conference play.
Sophomore Jesse Hooke (Huntingdon, PA / Norwin) managed to give a good fight to the Grove City squad as he was able to keep the sets close in his singles match with scores of 2-6 and 4-6, respectively. Hooke’s doubles match was also a tighter game than most for the Golden Tornadoes as he and his partner David Streit (Mechanicsburg, PA / Mechanicsburg Area) were able to remain close with a score of 4-8 in the game.
“We played solid tennis today,” said head coach Mandee Craft. “Grove City has won the PAC for about a hundred years straight, so to hang in with them in our first year as a program felt good.”
Geneva College will look forward to its next home match against Washington and Jefferson College on Monday April 18 at 4 p.m. on the Brady’s Run Court.
