Bethany, WV – Geneva looked on its way to a doubleheader sweep at Bethany after racking eight hits in a win in the opener. In the nightcap, the Golden Tornadoes held the early edge after a two-run opening inning. Still leading 3-1 lead after five, Geneva’s lead disappeared as Bethany scored a run in the sixth and seventh innings. It took 10 innings before Bethany overcame Geneva 4-3. The 1-1 day moves Geneva’s overall record to 5-9, 1-4 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.
During the windy day, JC Ackerman (Lewis Center, OH/Worthington Christian) went 4-9 including three RBIs in the first game.
Zach Ackerman (Lewis Center, OH/Worthington Christian) earned the game one win pitching the complete seven-inning game striking out five, while walking two, giving up only four hits.
In game two, Aaron Witman’s (Greencastle, PA/Shalom Christian Academy) single brought home JC Ackerman and Joey Luciana (Oakmont, PA/St. Joseph) capitalized on an error to give Geneva the two-run lead.
Caleb Metzler was charged with the extra inning loss.
Tuesday, March 29 Geneva is back at 33rd Street Field, hosting Penn State Beaver in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
