Beaver Falls, PA– The Geneva women’s soccer team offensively overcame the Thiel Tomcats at home 8-3 with six different scorers. The win raises Geneva’s overall record to 8-7, 4-4 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).
“Our team played a balanced game,” said head coach Linda Sumner. “Our offense moved the ball and created a lot of changes, giving six different players the opportunity to score.”
Junior Kimberly Orihel (Green, OH/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) opened the scoring for Geneva by finishing a pass from senior Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) in the first six minutes. Freshman Hannah Sleight (Shapeleigh, ME/Homeschool) scored quickly after with an assist from Orihel.
Thiel scored to bring the game close before Mann scored twice.
Freshman Becca Ceffaratti (West Chester, PA/Bayard Rustin), sophomore Laiton Suders (Chambersburg, PA/Cumberland Valley Christian), and freshman Megan Schoeneweis (Moon, PA/Moon) all scored before the end of the 90 minutes.
Mann, Orihel, and Schoeneweis also had assists on the win.
Geneva will be celebrating its class of 2016; Heidi Mann, Anna McMullen and Hannah Beckhusen during senior day as they host Saint Vincent Saturday, October 31 at 11:30 a.m.
