Newville, PA – The women’s cross country team competed in the 27-team Dickinson Invitational Saturday at Big Spring High School. The Golden Tornadoes competed in both a 6K and a 4K competition.
“The biggest positive of the day was the debut of two of our top freshman recruits, Hannah Mansell (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) and Justice Newland (Lebanon, OH/Lebanon),” said head coach Brian Yowler.
Returning from injuries, Mansell placed 112th of 217 in the 4K with a time of 17:25 and Newland placed 134th of 217, running 18:03 in the 4K.
“We were led by two outstanding sophomores, Madelyn Blosser (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) and Havilah Gaugler (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth),” said Yowler.
Blosser placed 68th (16:07) and Gaugler placed 78th (16:24). Rebecca Miller (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) placed 63rd, running a 25:41 and Amy Pinson (Colorado Springs, CO/Homeschool) placed 84th, running a 26:35.
October 2, the women will compete against conference teams at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational.
