Grove City, PA – Sophomore Madelyn Blosser (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) led the Golden Tornadoes at the Grove City Invitational in Geneva’s season opener Tuesday. Blosser finished 20th with a time of 21:39.91. Overall, the Golden Tornadoes placed fifth as a team.
“As expected, sophomore team captain Madelyn Blosser led the way. She trained hard over the summer, and it certainly showed today,” said head coach Brian Yowler.
“Also coming off a great summer of training was our number two runner, sophomore Amy Pinson. In the absence of Havilah and Hannah, Amy really stepped up. She's going to be a key part of this team's success this season.”
Sophomore Havilah Gaugler (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) did not run today but returned for the 2015 season.
Sophomore Amy Pinson (Colorado Springs, CO/Homeschool) finished 25th (21:59.85) with teammate junior Rebecca Miller (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) finishing for 26th place (22:01.18).
The Golden Tornadoes women's cross country team will compete again on Friday at Westminster, starting before the men at 6:30 p.m.
