Junior Johnathan Shoaf (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Christian) scored an early goal for Geneva but Methodist (NC) scored in the second half and both overtimes went scoreless for a 1-1 tie at Geneva’s Merriman Athletic Complex.
“It was an absolutely brilliant goal by Johnathan,” said Geneva head coach Gary Dunda.
“Methodist is a very well-coached team and they have some very good players.
“It was a well-played game and I’m real proud of how hard our guys worked. It was a good weekend.”
Geneva, now 2-0-1, will play at Allegheny on Wednesday.
