Tournament seeding will be determined by winning percentages after regular season round-robin play. Criteria for breaking a tie for seeding purposes is: 1) head-to-head; 2) matching wins vs. higher seeds; 3) Regional record win percentage; 4) record vs. common opponents; 5) coin flip.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Thomas More has clinched a tournament berth and can clinch the top seed and tournament hosting rights by sweeping Saint Vincent Saturday.
*W&J plays at Bethany Saturday, with both teams needing one win to clinch a tournament berth – if W&J wins both games vs. Bethany and Thomas More splits with Saint Vincent, both teams finish tied for first at 13-5. W&J would be the top seed based on a 2-0 HTH record vs. Thomas More.
*If Bethany wins both games vs. W&J and Thomas More splits with Saint Vincent, Bethany would need a win in the suspended game vs. Grove City Sunday to tie for first at 13-5 and a 1-1 HTH split. In this scenario, the top seed would be determined by matching wins against either W&J or Saint Vincent. In either case, Bethany would be the top seed due to matching wins vs. W&J (1-1 BET vs. 0-2 TMC) and SVC (2-0 BET vs. 1-1 TMC)
*If Thomas More is swept by Saint Vincent, both teams tie at 12-6 with SVC winning the HTH tiebreaker 2-0. However, they could also finish in a four-way tie at 12-6 if W&J and Bethany split. If a 4-way tie happens, combined HTH has Bethany and W&J both 4-2, SVC 3-3 and TMC 1-5, so TMC is the 4 seed and SVC the 3 seed. Starting the tiebreaker over, Bethany is the 1 seed and W&J is the 2 seed via matching wins vs. SVC (2-0 BET vs. 1-1 W&J).
*Westminster and Grove City each need 1-2 wins plus help to make the tournament. If Westminster sweeps Geneva and W&J sweeps Bethany, Westminster and Bethany both would finish 11-7 if Bethany wins suspended game vs. Grove City. In this case, Westminster wins tiebreaker via 2-0 HTH record vs. BET. Westminster split with both W&J and Saint Vincent. If they tie W&J, W&J would win any matching win tiebreaker with Thomas More (2-0 W&J vs 0-2 WES). If they tie Saint Vincent, it will depend on who ends up higher to determine matching wins tiebreaker.
*If Grove City and Westminster each sweep and finish tied for final tournament spot, Grove City wins tiebreaker via 2-0 HTH record. Grove City is 0-2 vs. TMC, 1-1 vs. W&J and 0-1 vs. Bethany (with suspended game to be completed Sunday) in various matching win scenarios.
*Geneva can get in by two ways. The first is by sweeping Westminster and having Thomas More sweep Saint Vincent, while also having Grove City lose at least 2 of their final 3 games. In this scenario, Geneva wins the final tournament spot via 2-0 HTH record over Saint Vincent.
The second possibility is if Geneva sweeps Westminster and Thomas More sweeps Saint Vincent and Grove City wins 2 of their final 3 games, we will have a 3-way tie for fourth seed at 10-8 between Geneva, Grove City and Geneva. The three teams are all 2-2 combined HTH, so in this scenario Geneva wins the tiebreaker via better matching wins record vs. Thomas More (which locks in top seed w/sweep of SVC) - GEN 1-1 vs TMC; GCC & SVC both 0-2 vs. TMC.
*Thiel, Waynesburg and Chatham have been eliminated from tournament eligibility.
*There are too many 3-way tie scenarios this year to consider all potential possibilities. If a scenario occurs not covered in this document, I will email everyone to confirm the tiebreakers before the tournament seeds are released.
