Beaver Falls, PA – Havilah Gaugler (Emsworth, PA / Avonworth) and Madelyn Blosser (Mechanicsburg, PA / Cumberland Valley) sealed the top two finishes in the women’s 1000 meter race for Geneva at Baldwin Wallace on Friday. Gaugler finished first with a time of 3:06.94, Blosser sealed second in 3:11.85. As a team, the indoor women’s track and field team finished eighth among 15 competing schools.
Havilah Gaugler's performance earned her the selection of the Geneva women′s student-athlete of the week. Her time of 3:06.94 set a new school indoor record and qualified her for the ECAC post-season at the Armory in New York on March 7. Her freshman campaign now includes three record setting performances, one with teammates Anna Wargo, Jessica Kelosky, andMadelyn Blosser in the Distance Medley Race (13:09.35), and twice breaking the 1000 meter record; first at Otterbein (Jan. 17) with a time of 3:12.46 breaking the old school record of 3:17.83 then breaking her own record Friday (Feb. 13) in the 1000 meter with a time of 3:06.94.
In the 400 meter Jessica Kelosky (Fombell, PA / Riverside) finished sixth with a time of 1:04.11.
Nicole Bartoletta (Monaca, PA / Central Valley) took fifth for the GTs in the 55 meter hurdles (8.98).
In the field, Sarah Foy (Rockwood, PA / Rockwood Area) and Sara Williams (Wellsboro, PA / New Covenant Academy) tag teamed; Foy with a sixth place finish (10.83 meters), Williams in seventh (10.77 meters).
The Golden Tornadoes are off until Thursday February 26 to compete in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship Indoor Meet.
