BETHANY, WV - Bethany controlled the boards, outrebounding Geneva 52-32 behind 6-0 freshman Kelsea Daugherty’s 27 points and 16 rebounds and the Golden Tornadoes never led in the game.
“We were only down six at the half but just ran out of gas,” said Geneva coach Lori Wynn. “They’re 15 deep and we’re 10 deep and we just ran out of steam. We’re playing hard and getting better but the progress hasn’t shown yet.
“It’s a process.”
Despite the loss, Geneva did achieve two statistical milestones.
Sophomore Nicole Hyland (Trafford, PA/Penn-Trafford) tied her career high with 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Junior Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) scored 18 points and moved into 14th place in career scoring for the Golden Tornadoes. She now has 897 and passed Renee Rawding (2005-09) with 896. Freshman Lydia Songer (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) rounded out Geneva’s scorers in double digits with 12.
Geneva, now 4-14 and 2-9 in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play, will return home Saturday to host St. Vincent at 1 p.m.
