Grove City, PA – In the first half of the game at Grove City, junior Ethan Adamczyk (Uniontown, OH/Lake), the Golden Tornadoes’ leading scorer was held scoreless.
In the second half, though, he made up for lost time and scored seven points in a row, tying the score at 48-48 with 7:14 left and then putting the Golden Tornadoes ahead for good as Geneva never trailed again.
“It was just a matter of getting used to Grove City’s gym,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “You can tell people about it but they have to see it themselves.
“We shot well as a team in the second half, too. We got points from our bench and we hadn’t had that for a while.”
Adamczyk finished with 12 points but Geneva’s leading scorer was senior Jacob Jaros (Levittsburg, OH/LaBrae) with 16 points and sophomore Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) had 10.
“Jake Jaros played a great game for us,” Santarsiero said. “He’s really been playing well.
“This was a big win for us, getting a conference win on the road. It went down to the wire, but most games with Grove City do.”
Geneva will travel to Penn State-Altoona for a non-conference game Monday at 6:00, then will host its first Presidents’ Athletic Conference game of 2015 Wednesday, against Washington & Jefferson at 7:30.
