gcvball914114.jpgBeaver Falls, PA- Geneva volleyball started the night celebrating the careers and impact of its seniors, Erin Smith (Sewickley, PA/Ambridge) and Courtney Aldridge (Warren, OH/Labrae). After the celebration, the seniors led the Golden Tornadoes to a three set win (25-15, 25-19, 25-9) over the visiting Grove City Wolverines. The win improves the Golden Tornadoes record to 16-8, 9-2 in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference.

"Courtney had a great match both offensively and defensively. Both she and Erin have had a great season so it was nice for them to have tonight. We served well and blocked well tonight and that helped earned us a lot of points," said co-head coach Curt Conser.

Smith and Aldridge led Geneva′s offense with nine kills by Smith, Aldridge with eight. Alexis Ritson (Irwin, PA/Hempfield) led the defensive game with 14 total digs. As a team Geneva finished the night with seven blocks.

Alumni and Geneva′s all-time setter, Deanna Briody commented as a fan, "It was really special to see girls I′ve played three years with be celebrated like that. They both played awesome, offensively and defensively. They were putting that ball away! It was a great game to watch."
