SEASON ENDING SPLIT
Pittsburgh, PA - Geneva′s volleyball team saw its season come to an end on Saturday with a two-match split on the final day of the regular season. The Golden Tornadoes took care of Chatham in quick fashion with a 3-0 victory. In the night cap, Geneva had the tables turned on itself with a 3-1 loss to Saint Vincent. The split ended Geneva′s season with an overall record of 22-10. It was the first time in four years that a Geneva volleyball team has reached the 20-win plateau. However, the Golden Tornadoes did drop four of its final five matches to close out the season.
On Saturday, Geneva took care of Chatham 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-18) with a balanced offensive attack including four players with at least six kills. Adriane Blake led the way with eight kills and Blair Bruce, Rachel Kuegler and Elizabeth Fisher each chipped in with six kills. Brianna Mixter had 13 assists in the victory.
In the night cap, Blake again was solid with a team leading 21 kills while Kuegler added 10 kills in the loss. Geneva dropped the match 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 30-32, 25-22) and had to work extremely hard for a 32-30 win in game three after dropping the first two in convincing fashion. Michelle Zimmovan had nine kills and five blocks, while Brandi Snavely helped out with 44 assists in the four game loss. Elizabeth Fisher finished up her career with a team leading 20 dig effort against the Bearcats.
