MAKE IT 20, GENEVAROLLS PAST WAYNESBURG
FOR 20TH WINOF SEASON
Beaver Falls, PA -It has been three years since Geneva′s volleyball team has reached the 20-win plateau in a season. On Tuesday night, the Golden Tornadoes swept past Waynesburg 3-0 (25-21, 26-24, 25-16) to move their overall record to 20-7. Geneva moved to 10-1 against PAC opponents with the victory as the Yellow Jackets fell to 8-18 on the season.
Adriane Blake led the offense with 17 kills, but it was the timely offense provided by Laure Zerbe that made a huge impact on the outcome. Zerbe finished the match with nine kills, but it was the first three that came at a pivotal juncture of the match. With Geneva trailing game two by the score of 24-23, Zerbe went to work with three consecutive kills to help the Golden Tornadoes take the game 26-24. She picked up six more kills in game three to lead the offense.
Brandi Snavely was effective all night and finished the match with 38 assists, which averages to over 12 helpers per game. Geneva got balanced help on the defensive end of the floor with a total of five players registering at least eight digs in the match.
Rachel Kuegler was also effective at the net with ten kills while teammate Elizabeth Fisher chipped in with seven kills in the victory.
Geneva′s busy week continues on Thursday when it travels to Thiel for the first of three consecutive matches. On Friday, the Golden Tornadoes will travel to Westminster before returning home on Saturday to face Thomas More.
