THEY′RE BACK, GENEVAGETS BACK TO WINNING

Grove City, PA - It was a short-lived losing streak of one match after an 11 match winning streak came to an end last Thursday at Thomas More. On Wednesday night the Golden Tornadoes got back to their winning ways and moved to 14-4 on the season with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-16, 25-22, 25-20) victory over Grove City College. It was the second victory for Geneva over the Wolverines in eight days. The Golden Tornadoes swept Grove City at Metheny Fieldhouse last Tuesday night.
On this night, the Golden Tornadoes got off to a slow start and watched Grove City take the first game. Geneva then took control by winning games two, three and four to take the match. Adriane Blake led the offense with 20 kills, while she got considerable help from her teammates. Rachel Kuegler added 13 kills, Michelle Zimmovan chipped in with nine kills and Elizabeth Fisher got on the board with eight kills.
Brandi Snavely, the NCCAA national leader and PAC leader in assists, led the way with 48 helpers. On the defensive end of the floor, Faith Guerra had 18 digs, while three others finished the match in double digits including Fisher (16 digs), Blake (12 digs) and Snavely (10 digs). Blair Bruce had a solid match at the net with a team best three blocks.
Geneva will travel to Waynesburg on Saturday for matches against the Yellow jackets and Chatham College in a tri-match. The Golden Tornadoes are looking forward to next weekend when they will host the NCCAA Eastern Regional tournament with a spot in the nationals on the line.
