LONDIN "0" POSTS ANOTHER SHUT-OUT, BUT
OFFENSE STALLS IN TIE
Bethany, WV - Lauren Londino picked up star honors on Friday night with her fifth shut-out of the season. Despite the goose egg posted on the scoreboard for Bethany, Geneva′s offense could not find the net and the game ended in a double overtime, scoreless tie. The tie moved Geneva′s overall record to 4-2-3 and extended its unbeaten streak to five.
Geneva controlled the tempo for much of the first half, but it did not result in many scoring opportunities. In fact, the Golden Tornadoes managed just three shots in the first half while holding Bethany to just one. The Bison responded with a much more impressive second half and out shot Geneva 10-3 in the final 45 minutes of regulation time. Londino turned away every Bethany scoring opportunity. Keeping Bethany off the board became even more challenging in the final 15 minutes of regulation when Geneva received a red card and was forced to finish the match with just ten players. Despite the disadvantage, Geneva was able to extend its unbeaten streak to five games after neither team could score in the 20 minute overtime period.
Geneva will return home on Wednesday night to host Washington & Jefferson in another PAC match-up.
