EIGHT IS GREAT, GENEVARUNS WINSTREAK
TO EIGHT STRAIGHT WITH WINOVER PS-BEAVER
BeaverFalls, P A - It wasn′t exactly a masterpiece at Merriman Athletic Complex on Monday night, but the Golden Tornadoes will take it. Geneva snuck past Penn State Beaver by the score of 1-0 to improve their record to 8-1, including victories in eight straight matches.
Goalkeeper Jeremy Musser started his second game of the season and picked up his second shut-out victory in the process. Musser was forced to make just two saves, both of which came in the first. Geneva controlled the tempo and possession for most of the night. The Golden Tornadoes out shot the Lions by a convincing 28-4 margin.
Geneva got the only goal of the night on a beautiful pass from Johnny Santos that Chris Morshl headed past the keeper in the 40th minute. Carmen Fertenbaugh kept the Lions in the match for most of the night as he was forced to make seven saves, but it was Morshl′s goal that ended up being the game winner.
The Golden Tornadoes will get another test on Wednesday night at home against Penn State Behrend. On Friday, Geneva will open PAC play when it travels to Bethany College.
