PERENNIAL CHAMPS SHOWGENEVAWHY
Grove City, P A - It is certainly no disgrace to lose a match to a team that has won the conference championship for 21 consecutive years. In the case of Geneva′s women′s tennis team, it was simply a case of join the club as it dropped a 9-0 decision to the juggernaut that is Grove City women′s tennis. The loss dropped Geneva′s overall record to 2-3, including the first match in PAC competition.
Geneva′s doubles teams were quite respectable by forcing the Wolverines to earn each of their three points with a pair of 8-3 losses and an 8-4 loss by the doubles tandem of Jill Grabski and Beth Ragonesi. Singles action was not much to write home about for the Golden Tornadoes. In six singles matches, Geneva managed to earn just two games in a total of 12 sets. Only Kara Zimmerman and Linnea Martin managed to take a game from their opponents.
The Golden Tornadoes will make the long trek to Kentucky this weekend to take on Thomas More on Friday afternoon. Geneva will return home next Thursday to host Washington & Jefferson.
