WAYTO PAIR OF TOP TENS
Waynesburg, PA -The conditions were less than favorable at the Waynesburg University Invitational on Saturday, but as any coach will tell you all the runners were faced with the same elements. Geneva′s men managed to finish eighth overall, while the women′s team put up a 10th place finish against 13 competing schools.
In women′s action, senior Rebecca VanRegenmorter led the Geneva contingent with a 36th place finish and a time of 25:14. Teammate Nicole Okerlund crossed the line in 41st position with a time of 25:41. Other top 100 finishers included Emily Hoobler (58th), Sarah Davis (64th), Sarah Wilson (70th), Monica Boyer (74th) and Anna Ford (78th).
Geneva′s men were paced by a 29th place finish from Josh Gunnett. Gunnett crossed the line at 27:49. Josh Falk broke the top 50 with a 48th place finish in a time of 28:38. Other Golden Tornado finishers included Ryan Thorn (54th), Charles Wilson (66th), Caleb Pearson (75th) and Nathan Mansor (79th).
Allegheny College won the overall competition on the men′s side with a total of 27 points. Geneva′s 272 points were three better than Goucher, which finished in ninth overall position. In women′s action, Messiah College won the event with 55 points followed by Havorford′s 85 points. Geneva finished the day with 269 points, which put it solidly in 10th position.
The Golden Tornadoes will be back in action on September 27th when they travel to Saint Vincent College.
