DECISIVE VICTORY EVENS RECORD
Pittsburgh, PA -Coming off its opening weekend and a 1-2 overall mark at the Penn State Behrend Tournament, Geneva′s tennis team evened its overall record with a decisive 8-1 decision over Chatham College.
Geneva won five of its six singles matches and swept the three doubles matches for its eight points. The Golden Tornadoes got singles victories from Kara Zimmerman, Amy Weller, Jill Grabski, Maura McLaughlin and Bethany Ragonesi. Each of those matches last just two sets, but Grabski had to work the hardest with a tie-breaker victory in the first of her two set victory.
Chelsea Cover and Zimmerman teamed up for number one doubles and came away with an 8-5 victory. Grabski and Weller also picked up a doubles win, while teammates McLaughlin and Ragonesi finished off the Cougars with a convincing 8-1 decision.
Geneva will open its home schedule on Saturday when Chatham returns the favor and makes the trip to Beaver Falls for a matinee.
