ATHLETES HONORED FOR ACHIEVEMENTS
ON ANDOFF TRACK
Beaver Falls, PA - For Geneva′s track team it has become one of the rights of spring to watch the post-season honors flood in for achievements both in and out of the athletic arena. The spring of 2008 has proven to be no different as several members of the Golden Tornadoes were honored this week by both the Presidents′ Athletic Conference (PAC) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).
On the men′s side, Phil Falk was the lone recipient of NCCAA scholar-athlete honors. The NCCAA recognizes juniors and seniors with a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.4. Geneva′s women received numerous honors for their achievements in the classroom and on the track. Tiffany Bear placed second in the heptathlon at the NCCAA national track and field meet, which automatically qualified her for All-American status. In conference action, Bear was given Coaches Honors for her effort in the long jump, while teammates Beth Bartolomeo (10000 meters) and Susan Fletcher (3000 meter steeplechase) were also honored by the PAC. Coach′s honors are handed out to those athletes who are equivalent to All-Conference performers.
Perhaps the most impressive list of awards was that of female scholar-athletes on the 2008 roster. A total of nine women received NCCAA scholar-athlete consideration for their work in the classroom. The following women were all recognized: Kelsey Anderson, Beth Bartolomeo, Tiffany Bear, Susan Fletcher, Theresa Gazo, Nicole Okerlund, Laura Seyler, Jamie Williams and Rebecca VanRegenmorter.
