TOUGH START TOOMUCH TO OVERCOME
IN LOSS AT WALSH
North Canton, OH - Geneva′s baseball team traveled to Walsh University on Tuesday for a reunion of old foes in the American Mideast Conference and the NAIA. The game was scheduled to start at 4 pm, but Geneva′s team didn′t seem to get started on time. In fact, at the end of the first inning the Golden Tornadoes found themselves trailing 6-0. Walsh extended its lead with two runs each in the second and third innings. At the end of four innings, the Cavaliers had taken an 11-0 advantage.
Geneva rallied for three runs in the fifth on a three-run homer off the bat of Justin Acosta. Dylan Viehdorfer accounted for the fourth Geneva run with an RBI single in the sixth, but it was much too little and too late for the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva′s offense came up with six hits in the game, including a pair off the bat of Tadd Eyster.
Matt Baer was the hard luck loser as he handed out ten runs, but only five of those runs were earned.
Geneva will travel to Thiel College on Saturday for another PAC doubleheader. Geneva will travel to Grove City next Tuesday before returning home on April 26th to host Waynesburg.
