BREAKFAST AT METHENY, CHANGE OF VENUE
DOESN′T AFFECT GENEVA
Beaver Falls, PA- On Friday night, Geneva College received a phone call from Chatham College that it would not be able to field a team for Saturday′s 11 am match. Geneva was also scheduled to play Waynesburg at Chatham beginning at 1 pm. With Chatham shorthanded, the decision was made late Friday night to have Waynesburg come to Geneva for a 10 am morning special. The change of venue didn′t seem to affect the Golden Tornadoes as they won a 3-1 decision to move their record to 13-18. After the match, Geneva went back on the road and will play at Grove City on Saturday night at 6 pm.
Geneva got out of bed first on Saturday as they cruised to a 30-18 victory in game one. Game two was a different story as the Yellow jackets rallied for a 30-26 victory to even the match at one game apiece. The final two games went down to the wire with Geneva coming out on top 30-28 in each.
Adriane Blake led the offense with 20 kills and seven service aces. Teammate Sarah Bruck had 13 kills and three blocks, while Michelle Zimmovan added 12 kills and five blocks. Faith Guerra led the defense with 26 digs and Brandi Snavely posted 52 assists to continue her strong play.
Following tonight′s match at Grove City, Geneva will visit Thiel on Monday. The Golden Tornadoes will close out the regular season at home next Friday against Saint Vincent College.
