GENEVAEARNS SPLITAT NCCAA REGIONALS
Rochester, NY- It was not exactly the result Geneva′s volleyball team was looking for this weekend at the NCCAA East Regional tournament at Roberts Wesleyan College. On Friday night, Geneva dropped a 3-0 decision to Mt. Vernon Nazarene, which entered the tournament in the NAIA top 20 with an overall record of 25-1. In the night cap, Geneva turned the tables with a 3-0 victory over Carlow University.
On Saturday, the results were the same. Geneva dropped a hard fought 3-2 decision to Malone before beating host Roberts Wesleyan 3-1 to close out the weekend. The 2-2 weekend mark moved Geneva′s overall record to 11-17.
Adriane Blake, who started play this weekend as Geneva′s top hitter, did nothing but improve upon that status with a solid weekend of action. Blake combined for 71 kills in three matches, including an overwhelming 46 on Saturday. Brandi Snavely continued her strong play at the setter position with 165 assists in Geneva′s 15 games over four matches.
Elizabeth Fisher was also solid, especially on Saturday as she threw down 27 kills in Geneva′s two match split against Malone and Roberts Wesleyan.
The Golden Tornadoes will return home this upcoming week with home matches against Bethany on Tuesday and Westminster on Thursday.
