FOX ROCKS, SUPER SUB SCORES A PAIR TO LEAD GENEVA
Beaver Falls, PA - Always be aware of the substitute that comes into the game for an injured starter. On Friday night, Bruce Fox entered the game for Geneva just minutes into the contest after Russ Picard went down with a hamstring injury. Fox made the most of his opportunity by netting a pair of goals in Geneva′s 4-0 victory over Waynesburg University. The victory snapped Geneva′s first two-game losing streak of the season and helped improve the Golden Tornadoes′ record to 10-4.
Geneva controlled the match from start to finish as the total shots indicated with the Golden Tornadoes holding a decisive 23-4 advantage. Thirteen of those 24 shots were on the net and four of them found the back. Fox opened the scoring on a beautiful one-two touch from Kenton Burkhart to Fox′s foot in the 23rd minute. Seven minutes later, Fox pounced on a rebound to net his fourth goal of the season.
In the second half, Matt Weaver scored his first collegiate goal on a penalty kick in the 48th minute and Dylan Flickinger followed suit with his first college tally with just three minutes to play to close out the scoring.
Sam McCracken went the distance in goal to pick up his sixth shut-out of the season, but was forced to make just three saves in the match.
Geneva will travel to Thomas More next Wednesday before returning home next Saturday to host Thiel College in the first of three straight home matches to close out the regular season.
