OFFENSIVE WOES CONTINUE WITH SHUTOUT
LOSS TO SAINT VINCENT
Latrobe, PA- Geneva′s women′s soccer team ended its scoreless streak with a 1-1 tie against Chatham last Friday, which ended a three game span without a goal. On Wednesday, the Golden Tornadoes found themselves back in that familiar position of not being able to generate much on the offensive end of the field. Saint Vincent scored all three of its goals in the first half of a 3-0 victory over Geneva. The Golden Tornadoes fell to 2-10-1 and have not won since their fifth match of the season.
Early in the season, the trend for Geneva′s women was to play teams close to the vest in the first 45 minutes and then run out of steam in the second half. Lately, Geneva has been closing games stronger than it starts, which was once again the case on Wednesday.
After allowing three first half goals, Geneva played the Bearcats even up in the final 45 minutes, but still could not generate many offensive chances to make a serious threat.
Saint Vincent out shot Geneva 17-8 for the match, but it was once again junior goalkeeper Amber Weaver that stood tall in the net to help Geneva try to stay in the match.
The Golden Tornadoes will get back on their home field on Friday evening when they host Waynesburg College at 5 pm.
