WOLVERINE WOES, GENEVAFALLSAT GROVECITY
IN MATCH HIGHLIGHTED BY ROHOLT MARATHON
Grove City, PA - Geneva′s tennis team fell for the second straight match against a PAC opponent on Tuesday in an 8-1 loss at Grove City. The loss saw Geneva′s overall record fall to 4-4, despite one of the most dramatic matches in recent history.
Geneva′s lone victory came in number one singles when Jill Halama and Tess Roholt teamed up for an 8-4 victory. The fact that Roholt was even able to play in the match may have been the miracle of the day. Roholt was matched up in number three singles earlier in the day and lost a three set marathon. Roholt lost the first set 7-5, but rallied to win the second set in impressive fashion at 6-1. Set number three went well into extra games as Roholt ultimately dropped an 11-9 decision in the third and deciding set, which marked only her second loss of the season.
Roholt finished the day with an overall mark of 6-2, while teammate Allison Krisza saw her perfect season come to an end with a straight set loss in number two singles. Krisza now sits at 5-1 for the season.
Geneva will be back in action on Friday when it travels to Washington & Jefferson before returning home on Saturday afternoon to host Thomas More College at 1 pm.
