NETTERS ROLL PAST FIRST PAC FOE
Beaver Falls, PA - Because of NCAA Division III provisional status, none of Geneva′s tennis matches will count in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference standings, however, the Golden Tornadoes did make a strong opening statement against their first PAC opponent of 2007. Geneva cruised to a 9-0 whitewash over Bethany College on Wednesday afternoon. The victory helped the Golden Tornadoes to improve to 3-2 on the young season.
Geneva swept all six singles matches and allowed Bethany to win just a total of six games in those matches. Four of the six matches ended with a 6-0, 6-0 result, including wins by Allison Krisza, Tess Roholt, Beth Sweatman and Katie Caldwell. Krisza′s victory was her fifth straight this fall as she remained perfect. Other singles winners included Jill Halama and Julia Buck.
Much of the same result came in Geneva′s three doubles victories. Halama and Roholt teamed up for an 8-4 victory, while Krisza and Buck cruised to an 8-1 final. Bethany Ragonesi and Katie Caldwell pitched an 8-0 victory in the final match of the day.
Geneva will be back in action next Tuesday when it travels to another PAC opponent in first year member Chatham College.
