Softball Keeps Rolling Along, Drops Malone Twice
Canton, OH - Geneva′s softball team continued to roll on Tuesday with a pair of victories over Malone College. Geneva won game one 8-2 and held on for a victory in the night cap 1-0. Geneva has won four straight and 14 of its last 17 to improve to 17-10 on the season.
Erinne Metler allowed a lead-off homer in the first inning of game one, but settled down to allow just four more hits in picking up her ninth victory of the season. Metler struck out six and did not walk a batter.
Geneva put the game away with a seven-run fourth inning. Marisa Barickman′s two-run double gave Geneva the lead and RBI singles from Ashley Archer, Michawn Rich and Amy Pearce extended the lead. Rich, Pearce and Barickman had two hits each.
In game two, Mary Gaylor′s RBI single in the second inning was the only run Ashley Archer would need as she hurled a four-hit shut-out. Archer struck out six in the victory. Amy Pearce collected two of Geneva′s four hits in game two.
Geneva is scheduled to travel to Pitt-Greensburg for a doubleheader on Thursday before the Easter break.
