The Geneva College Theater Program will begin the 2022-23 season with a production of HONK!, a musical adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s 1834 story The Ugly Duckling, book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe and music by George Stiles. This delightful and award-winning adaptation is a heartwarming celebration of the fact that the things that make us different are often the things that make us special.
A family-friendly show, HONK! follows the story of Ugly, a duckling that looks different than his brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother’s protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, this small fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and discovers being different is not a bad thing to be.
HONK! is directed by Geneva Theater Program director, Melinda Williams.
All performances will be at Geneva College’s Bagpiper Theater and are open to those outside of the Geneva Community. Admission is $10 for general admission, $7 for senior citizens, children under thirteen, and Geneva faculty/staff, and $5 for current Geneva students. Tickets may be reserved starting on October 20.
