If you are not interested in sports, do not fear! Geneva has many opportunities on campus for those who are not athletically inclined. Here are some on-campus activities for you to pursue if you are not an athlete.
Theater – Each semester our theater program performs a production. In the fall they perform a musical and in the spring they perform a play. Also in the spring, is the annual student-directed One Acts, which are a series of shorter productions. If you enjoy acting, costume design, choreography, or set design, then the theater program might be the right place for you. Another perk of theater is that you can even receive course credit for working with the theater program. Even if you are not interested in performing in theater, attending the shows as a viewer is always a fun experience, so keep your eye out for the upcoming shows.
Music Groups – If you enjoy singing or playing an instrument, there are several music groups you can join on campus. Between the Genevans choir, the marching band, the flute choir, the jazz band, the symphonic band, Eight Bells, and Grace Notes, there are plenty of opportunities for you to utilize your musical talents. You can also earn credit by joining a music group on campus. By joining one of these groups, you can also build friendships with others who enjoy music. If you are interested in playing an instrument, connect with Mark Godwin, the band director. If you are interested in singing, connect with Dr. David Smith, music professor and Genevans director.
Urban Gaming Club – The Urban Gaming Club (UGC) offers exciting campus-wide capture the flag games and Nerf battles called Humans vs. Zombies. Join the UGC to help plan and moderate the games, or join the teams to take part in these epic battles. Come prepared with any Nerf gear you might already earn, and get your game face on! For more information, check out the UGC Instagram profile.
CSE – The Center for Student Engagement teams host numerous campus events and activities throughout the semester. Keep an eye out for events that might interest you or consider joining one of the teams. The Diversity Team, Adventure Team, Mosaic Team, Student Activities Team, and Community Team are all great ways to engage with your fellow students. The CSE is also responsible for overseeing all of the campus clubs, so try looking to see if there is a club that interests you. If you do not see the club you are looking for, consider creating your own with the CSE’s help. No matter what your interests are, the CSE has something that will appeal to you, so check out all of their opportunities.

Not only does the Creative Process offer an outlet for creativity, but it also offers a space of peace amidst busy schedules. Regardless of your artistic ability, you are welcome in this space.
