Beaver Falls, PA – On Saturday (Nov. 12), the Westminster College Titans defeated the Golden Tornadoes 24-0 in the final home game of the season. Geneva football finished the 2016-17 season with an overall record of 3-7, 2-6 in the President’s Athletic Conference (PAC).

In the first drive of the game, Westminster moved the ball down the field but was stopped inside the red zone by Geneva’s defense forcing the Titans to settle for a field goal.

The Golden Tornado defense would again prove to be a strong force for the GTs as they forced a turn-over on downs at their own one yard line in the second quarter to prevent the Titans from scoring. The Titans were able to convert a touchdown with 1:28 left in the first half to bring the half time score to 10-0.

Senior linebacker Jimmy Quinlan (Brookfield, OH/Brookfield) led the defense posting 17 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss (3 yards). Senior linebacker Jonny Fiscus (Freedom, PA/Freedom) recorded 12 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss (1 yard), forced a fumble and broke up a pass.

The third quarter was not friendly to the home side as they committed two fumbles that resulted in two turnovers. The Titans were able to convert a rushing touchdown with 3:31 left in the third quarter for a score of 17-0.

Westminster scored again in the final five minutes of regulation to bring the final score to 24-0. The fifth and final turnover for the Geneva offense was an end zone interception to disrupt the GTs longest offensive drive of the game.

The Geneva College Football Program took time at the beginning of the game to honor their 18 seniors who will be graduating this year. It was an honor and privilege to have them on the team and the program wishes them all the best with their futures. Storm on.

In addition to the senior festivities, Geneva extended its halftime period to honor it’s first-ever Athletics Hall of Fame class comprised of 12 Geneva greats. To read more about the historic event visit http://www.geneva.edu/athletics/hof/
