Formal Candidacy Requirements

Criteria for Admission to Formal Candidacy in all Education Programs

1. Meet the basic skill requirements in math, reading, writing in one of the following ways:
   1. SAT required minimum scores OR
   2. ACT required minimum scores OR
   3. Pass the PAPA (Pre-Service Academic Performance Assessment Test) OR
   4. Pass the ETS Core Academic test
2. Complete 48 semester credit hours
3. Achieve an overall career grade point average of 3.00 or higher
4. Earn 6 credits in college level Math
5. Earn 6 credits in English including:
   1. English Composition
   2. English Literature (at Geneva, this requirement is met through 9 credits of Humanities
6. Two (2) letters of Faculty Recommendation
7. An overall rating of at least 3 (“Developing”) on the Professional Dispositions Rubric
8. Department Chair approval for entry into candidacy
